Having gone through a renovation project about 15 years ago with a different building company, I have to admit that I was apprehensive before starting the large renovation job I planned last year (2017). I guess I still bore the scars of the previous job, which was full of frustration, missed deadlines, cost overruns, poor service from the contractor and a generally unpleasant site atmosphere. Well, the recently completed 7-month project with you and your team could not have been more different. Firstly, the overall atmosphere of professionalism and order was exceptional. You were on site every day yourself overseeing the project and it was a pleasure to come to site meetings here. Nothing was ever too much trouble. You and your team and the sub-contractors you used were polite, enthusiastic and pleasant…as well as being highly competent and skilled. My neighbours also spoke really highly about you and your team in so far as you minimised disruption and disturbance to them while my project was ongoing. It made such as difference. I am thrilled with the finished job - it absolutely exceeded my expectations. The quality of the finish is excellent (I think you might even be more of a perfectionist than I am!). You subsequently did a smaller renovation for me on the house of an older relative and the experience there was equally positive. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your company to others. This is note that I have composed in my head a number of times since the completion of our house repairs in the summer. John and myself wish to say thank you for your excellent management of the contract and the speed and efficiency with which you tackled the job.
When we approached Brian O’Donoghue with our list of house improvements he told us that he would send out the project to tender and we felt that was the best strategy.
What you cannot read in a tender document is the energy and sense of ownership that a building contractor will bring on board. Your enthusiasm and efficiency were infectious and your ability to plan and act forward is to be admired. So much so that we finished our 9 week job a week ahead of time.
We are thrilled with the improvements made to our home and it so much more comfortable to live. We appreciate your consideration of our decision to live in the house during the period of the works. “Dear Brian
When Jim and I decided to undertake a major renovation & extension of our home, we came in contact with you through our Architect. He sang your praises in terms of your professionalism; and he advised us to go and look at some of your previous work. We did. We were really impressed by the high quality finish in all aspects of your work; and your former clients spoke highly of you.
Yours was not the lowest quotation submitted; and we were tempted to go with the lowest. However, based on the above we decided to engage you. You advised us the job would take six months from the start date. True to you word, you delivered our dream home back to us, completely finished, one week before the target date. You even engaged a professional cleaning company, so when we walked through the door, we were “gobsmacked”. Not a speck of dust anywhere; and no cleaning to do.
The building works which involved very substantial, complex engineering and structural steelwork proceeded smoothly. It was obvious that you had a long working relationship with sub-contractors (plumbers, electricians, plasterers, etc); and you continuously invited us to meet with them and discuss each facet of work. Their pride in providing top quality was evident and the fact that you were on site all day, every day ensured tight management control. Cost control was within our budget and adjustments from the original design were minimal and yet effective.
I know from our friends that building or renovating a house can be an ordeal. Our relationship with you was one of dealing with a very competent professional, who made the project a very pleasant experience. We did indeed make the right choice of builder. We have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone wishing to build a special home or considering renovating their existing home.”
